It was on May 11, 1927 that the settlement of Hallandale was incorporated as a town. At the time the population was 1,500 residents. It then later became incorporated as a city in 1947. This allowed the City to expand its borders the annexation of nearby unused land. The city later officially changed its named to Hallandale Beach in August of 1999.
