Afterschool
The City of Hallandale Beach Department of Parks and Recreation and the Human Service Department provide homework assistance and recreational activities in a safe environment for school age participants. Activities include tutoring, cultural arts, crafts, group games, sports, field trips, swimming and lots more!

Bluesten Park Afterschool Program, for children ages 6-12 years, offers an educational, safe environment with structured activities, homework assistance, crafts, field trips, swimming, and more. Registration is accepted year around. Weekly program fee required. Bluesten Park is a Hallandale Beach Elementary School bus stop!

Foster Park H.O.S.T. Program (Hallandale Beach Out of School Time). 
The H.O.S.T. program, for children ages 6-12 years, promotes healthy lifestyle choices, combats childhood obesity and hunger, and promotes academic success and productive citizenship through special programs and activities. Care will be offered during school breaks, school holidays, early releases, and after regular school days.

The children are provided a nutritious snack each early release and regular after school day and a nutritious breakfast, lunch and snack each school break and school holiday.

Registration is accepted year-round. One time annual registration fee required.

The Police Athletic League (PAL) of Hallandale Beach provides youth athletics to boys and girls of all ages.

 Aquatics
The Hallandale Beach Municipal Pool is located at 202 SE 5 Street. Open year-round, the facility consists of a heated pool, activity pool with 3 play pieces, bathhouse with showers, and lockers.  For more information please call the Municipal Pool at 954 457-1458.

Pool Hours 
    September 1st - April 30th: 11:00am - 5:30pm Every Day 
    May 1st - August 31st: 11:00am - 7:30 pm Sat./Sun./Mon./Weds./Fri. 
                                             11:00am - 5:45 pm Tues./Thurs.

Pool Entry Fees 
    Youth (Ages 3-17) Resident: $1.00 Non-Resident: $2.00 
    Adult (18 ) Resident: $1.50 Non-Resident: $3.00
  • Children under the age of 9 must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult at least 18 years of age.
  • Children 2 and under are admitted free.

Annual Pool Pass 
    Youth (Ages 3-17) Resident: $15.00 Non-Resident: $30.00 
    Adult (18 ) Resident: $25.00 Non-Resident: $50.00
  • Pool Passes can be purchased at the Cultural Community Center, 410 SE 3 Street, Hallandale Beach.
  • Proof of residency is required for residents (current driver's license and current utility bill).

    Registration for all swim classes takes place at the Municipal Pool, 202 SE 5 Street, Hallandale Beach.

Swim Lesson Levels
 Parent and Tot, Ages 3-5 
    This class is designed for preschool children. They will learn the basics of swimming and safety while having fun with
    their parents in the pool. Some of the skills taught will include: supported back float, blowing bubbles, leg kicking and
    an introduction to the pool rules. Classes focus on overall comfort in the pool. Parent must accompany child in the 
    water.

Level 1 Beginner, Ages 6-8 
    This beginner level requires no experience. Skills taught will include putting their face in the water, blowing bubbles,
     the front glide and recovery and the flutter kick on their belly. Children are welcomed to take this class several times
     to get comfortable with the water. The pool rules will be reinforced throughout the class.

Level 2 Intermediate, Ages 6-16 
    This level requires completion of Level 1 skills which include breast stroke, front crawl and side stroke. Level 1 skills
    will be refined and improved. Children must be able to swim 50 yards of each stroke to move onto Level 3.

Level 3 Advanced, Ages 8-18 
    This level requires being able to swim 100 yards non-stop. Children will learn the butterfly stroke, how to dolphin kick,
    and will be required to swim 100 yards of back stroke, breast stroke and the side stroke without stopping.

Recreation Programming

Register now for our Recreation Programs. Registrations accepted Monday through Friday 8:00am – 6:00pm at the Cultural Community Center. Proof of residency and age required at time of registration.

Dolphin Swim Team Program. 
Dolphin Swim team offers Recreation and USA Competitive swim programs for swimmers ages 3 and up. The program is offered Monday through Friday 5:00–7:00pm at the Municipal Pool in Bluesten Park. Youth (3 through 17 years) and Masters (18 years and up) divisions. Edgardo Deleon, Coach.

Tae-Kwon Do for Beginners. Tae-Kwon Do not only offers self-defense training. Participants will also enjoy the benefits of conditioning, confidence, discipline, focus, and respect. New sessions begin each month. Classes are held Tuesdays and Thursdays 6:15-7:45pm at Bluesten Park. All ages welcome. John Alonso, Senior Instructor.

 Summer Camps


The Parks and Recreation Department offers
Summer Junior Lifeguard Camp.  Are you interested in lifeguarding – but not quite old enough yet? This course is designed to give 11 to 14 year olds a sneak peek into what it takes to become a great lifeguard. We cover all the basics including introduction to lifeguarding, lifesaving skills, leadership skills, fitness, and professional development as we get you ready to enter the American Red Cross Lifeguarding program when you turn 15.  

Camp is held Monday through Friday 9:00am – 4:00pm and is offered the weeks of July 1st through 5th (no camp Thursday, July 4th) and July 29th through August 2nd.  There is a $60 weekly program fee for residents, a $90 weekly program fee for non-residents. 

Register now at the Cultural Community Center, 410 SE 3rd St., Monday – Friday 8:00am – 6:00pm.  Proof of residency and age required at time of registration. 


Join the City of Hallandale Beach Department of Parks and Recreation for Summer Adventure Camps June 10 through August 16, 2013.  Camp is offered Monday through Friday, 9:00am - 4:00pm (no camp on Thursday, July 4th).  Extended care is available for an additional fee.

The Summer Adventure Camps offer children ages 6-12 years a summer full of adventure.  Themed activities include cultural arts, crafts, group games, sports, field trips, swimming and lots more!

Register now at the Cultural Community Center, 410 SE 3 Street, Monday - Friday, 8:00am-6:00pm.  Proof of residency and age required at time of registration.

  • June 10th through 21st - Explore the Magic of Music:  Campers will make instruments, attend performances, and perform for family and friends.
  • June 24th through July 5th- ARTventure:  Venture into the Art of expressing yourself through different forms of art.
  • July 8th through 19th - Safari Exploration:  Explore the world of animals.
  • July 22nd through August 2nd:  Mad Science Quest:  Explore how cool the world of science can be.
  • August 5th through 16th - Wacky-Wild Water Adventures:  Have a blast with wacky and wild water-themed adventures

Registration is accepted at the Cultural Community Center, 410 SE 3 Street, Monday through Friday, 8:00am-6:00pm.

Bluesten Park, Located at 501 SE 1 Avenue.  There is a $60 weekly program fee for residents, a $90 weekly program fee for non-residents.  Bluesten Park is a USDA Summer Food Service Program free lunch site.

Foster Park, located at 609 NW 6 Avenue. There is a one-time $250 registration fee for residents, a $300 registration fee for non-residents and a $80 registration fee for students currently enrolled in the H.O.S.T. Program (limited space available).  Foster Park provides a nutritious breakfast, lunch and snack for campers each day.

  Teen Programming
 
The O. B. Johnson Park Teen Zone provides daily drop in time where teens can get homework assistance; play pool, ping pong, foosball, basketball, or video games; watch movies; and hang out with friends.  There's also organized games, field trips, vounteer activities, special interest classes, and enrichment programs.

The program features:

  • Career Development, Fitness, and Nutrition Education Programs
  • Homework Help and Academic Enrichment Programs
  • Civic Outreach Programs
  • Volunteer & Advisory Board Opportunities

The program is open to teens ages 13-17 and registration is rquired.
