2. What is the hiring process?: Depending on the position, after an application has been submitted online, each candidate will receive a confirmation notice advising him/her that the application was received. Personnel reviews each application to ensure that candidates meet the established minimum requirements. If minimum requirements are met, the application is forwarded to the hiring manager for further consideration. The hiring manager will schedule interviews with selected candidates. Candidates are ranked through the interview process and employment offers are made to the candidate who is the best fit for the open position. The Personnel Department will schedule a pre-employment physical/drug test or other testing as requested by the hiring manger. All new hires serve a nine-month probationary period. Police Officers and Firefighters serve a one-year probationary period.

4. Where do I send my application and/or resume for a job posting?: The City has transitioned to an all-electronic paperless recruitment system which allows you to apply electronically. 6. If hired, when am I eligible for health and/or dental benefits?: If you choose to participate in the City's health and dental coverage, it takes effect the first day of the month following 30 days of full time employment.

9. Do you accept applications for positions that are not currently open?: No, we do not. You must apply for an open position.

10. Do I have to be a resident of Hallandale Beach in order to apply for employment?: We encourage individuals who meet the minimum requirements of the posted job opportunities to apply.

11. Can my application be put towards more than one job?: Applications should be submitted for each position being applied for.

13. What are the penalties for exaggerating or falsifying information and documents contained with my employment application?: Candidates who provide false information or documentation contained with the employment application will not be considered for any position with the City of Hallandale Beach and current employees will be dismissed at any time for providing false information or documentation contained with the employment application.

14. How long must I wait before I know whether my application has been accepted?: Once the online application has been completed, you should receive an email confirming that the application was received.

15. What if I do not see the job I was searching for posted?: If the position is no longer posted, the position has been closed and we are no longer accepting applications.

16. Will my past employment and credentials be verified?: If a job offer is made, we conduct thorough background checks. This includes references checks, verifications of diplomas, degrees, certifications, licenses, etc.

17. Will the privacy of my application be maintained?: Since applications and other documents are subject to public disclosure under the Florida Statute 119.07, the City of Hallandale Beach cannot guarantee the privacy of information contained in your application.

18. How will I know if I have been selected for an interview?: Incoming Applications for Employment are screened by the Human Resources Department to determine whether the applicant meets the minimum requirements for the position. If your application meets the minimum requirements as required in the job description, your application will be forwarded to the respective department for review. If the respective department is interested in meeting with you, a member of our Human Resources Team will contact you to schedule an interview.

19. What if I am offered a job with the City of Hallandale Beach?: If you are offered a job with the City of Hallandale Beach, you will be required to sign a Conditional Offer of Employment along with additional pre-employment documents which include but are not limited to: Background Authorization, Employment Verification, Records Release, a Non-Tobacco Use Affidavit, and Employment Waiver. You will also be required to complete a drug screen and additional tests as deemed necessary by the City, and/or as required by your assigned department. You will also be required to take a loyalty Oath as per Florida Statute 876.05 and establish identity and employment eligibility under the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.
